Melons 25-35 6.25-8.75% 600-800 L Every 10-14 days
Coffee 30-40 7.5-10% 400-600 L Selective by pressure
Bananas/Plantains 30-40 7.5-10% 400-600 L Every 14-21 days

Steps to Prepare the Mixture

Before You Begin

  • Inspect equipment: Verify sprayer is clean and working correctly. Check nozzles and filters.
  • Prepare water: Use clean water, preferably with pH between 6.5-8.0. If water is too alkaline, use an acidifier.
  • Gather supplies: Protecsol powder, water, mixing container, agitator, measuring tools.

Mixing Procedure

  • Fill tank: Place 200-300 L of water in mixing tank (do not fill completely).
  • Create suspension: While gently stirring, slowly add Protecsol powder to avoid clumping.
  • Mix thoroughly: Stir continuously for 5-10 minutes until you have a homogeneous suspension.
  • Complete volume: Add water to reach 400 L desired volume, continuing to stir.
  • Verify consistency: Mixture should look uniform with a "milk" white/creamy appearance.

Important

Do not let mixture sit idle for more than 2 hours. Stir continuously during application to maintain uniform suspension. If mixture settles, re-mix before continuing.

Field Application Guide

Best Time to Apply

Time: Early morning (before 10 AM) or late afternoon (after 4 PM)

Weather: Cloudy or partly cloudy is ideal. Avoid rain expected within 2 hours.

Wind: Apply in light winds (5-15 km/h). Avoid very windy days.

Avoid: Do not apply with rain, dense fog, temps above 28°C or very low humidity.

Correct Coverage

Goal: Achieve 80-90% coverage of leaf and fruit surface.

Pressure: Use 200-250 psi (14-17 bar) for fine mist pattern that adheres to plants.

Nozzles: Use "fan" type nozzles 80.02 to 80.04 producing fine droplets.

Technique: Apply from both sides of plant, moving sprayer top to bottom.

Application Checklist

  • Confirm correct dosage for crop
  • Mixture properly prepared without lumps
  • Equipment clean, filters clean, nozzles working
  • Adequate weather (no imminent rain)
  • Temperature between 10-28°C
  • Apply when leaves are dry
  • Ensure uniform coverage
  • Maintain stirring during entire application
  • Record date, time, dosage applied

Harvest Washing Guide

One key advantage of Protecsol is that it completely washes off at harvest with no residue. Here's how to ensure complete removal:

Fruit Preparation

  • Harvest fruit when completely ripe
  • Place in clean containers without excessive packing
  • Transport quickly to packing station

Washing Process

  • Use clean water at room temperature (15-20°C)
  • First rinse: 3-5 minutes in running water
  • Second rinse: 5-10 minutes with gentle movement
  • Final rinse: clean water until film is removed

Important Note

Protecsol is a natural mineral (kaolin) that adheres physically to fruit surface without absorption. Gentle water washing is sufficient for complete removal. No chemical detergents or special cleaners needed.

Recommended Application Calendar by Crop

Apple (Southern Hemisphere)

October (Bloom): First preventive application (low dose 25 kg)

November-January: Applications every 10-14 days (normal dose 30-40 kg) when fruit reaches 40% final size

February-March: Reduce frequency if pest pressure decreases, maintain sun protection

Last application: 3-4 weeks before harvest

Citrus (Year-Round - Selective Protection)

Spring: After fruit set when fruit is small (low dose 25 kg)

Summer: Applications every 14-21 days (normal dose 35-45 kg) during peak radiation hours

Fall: Reduce to every 21-28 days if well covered

Winter: Selective applications based on pest presence

Grape (October - March)

October: First application at pre-bloom (low dose 25 kg)

November-December: Every 10-14 days post-bloom and fruit set (normal dose 30-40 kg)

January-February: Every 10-14 days during berry maturation (normal dose)

Last 3 weeks before harvest: Suspend applications to allow natural washing

Compatibility with Other Products

Protecsol can be used in combination with many other agricultural products. Here are recommendations:

Product Compatibility Recommendation
Fungicides (sulfur, copper) Compatible Apply Protecsol first, wait 1-2 hours, then fungicide
Biological insecticides Compatible Apply on alternate days for maximum effectiveness
Chemical synthetic insecticides Caution Protecsol may interfere with absorption; apply separately
Foliar fertilizers Compatible Mix in same tank (apply fertilizer first)
Horticultural oils Caution Protecsol reduces oil adhesion; reduce oil dose
Alkaline products (pH > 8) Not Compatible Use separately; if mixing necessary, acidify water first

Best Practices for Maximum Effectiveness

Before Application

  • Monitor pest pressure and solar stress
  • Check weather forecast
  • Calibrate application equipment
  • Verify tank is clean
  • Check nozzle condition

During Application

  • Maintain constant stirring
  • Apply both sides of plant
  • Ensure uniform coverage
  • Do not apply if rain expected
  • Record application in field notebook

After Application

  • Monitor plant conditions
  • Record application date and time
  • Thoroughly clean equipment
  • Verify adherence in 24 hours
  • Evaluate re-application need

Continuous Monitoring

  • Inspect leaves/fruit 3-5 days post-application
  • Evaluate protective film coverage
  • Count live/dead pests
  • Record weather conditions
  • Adjust frequency based on results
